About the Author
Jim Franklin has spent most of his life finding the interesting exit off the expected road.
Born in Illinois and raised around farm life, Jim started young, earning his FCC license at fifteen and stepping into radio as an announcer and DJ. From small market stations to Detroit, Cincinnati, and eventually San Francisco’s legendary KQAK, The Quake, he built a career on sharp timing, quick wit, and the occasional comment that made station managers nervous.
After radio, Jim moved into telecommunications, founded Caribbean Telephone & Telegraph, sold the company to MCI, and later built a successful real estate career in Palm Springs, where even a City Council run became part strategy, part publicity, and very Jim.
